Is God Calling You?
Consider a vocation! Ask yourself a few questions: Have you
been touched by God? Do you have a longing to make a difference in peoples’
lives? Are you searching for the ultimate meaning in your life? Want to follow
Jesus in a radical way? You will never know until you make a move!
A Life of Vocation May be the Answer!
There are many types of vocations: some are called to
marriage; others invited to single life for Jesus. Still others are called to
serve as priests and religious. We invite you to consider beginning a
relationship with the Passionists. Our life is of community, ministry, joy, and
peace. We live as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. And by opening a
dialogue with us, you too may discover a life of meaning and fulfill a destiny
about which you’ve only dreamed!

The Passionists are a religious community of priests,
brothers, sisters and nuns in the Roman Catholic tradition. We also are comprised of many lay
partners – a third type of order – as well as laity who advise and minister
with us. We presently minister in 59 countries throughout the world – and came
to the United States over 150 years ago.
Our founder: St. Paul
of the Cross
The Congregation of the Passion(the Passionists) was founded in Italy in 1741 by Paul Daneo, who
was subsequently canonized St. Paul of the Cross.
We are a balanced contemplative/apostolic community. Our
charism (gift from God to the Church) is to contemplate Christ crucified and to
evangelize. We minister in many various ways.
We have retreat centers sprinkled all over the United States.
Holy Name Retreat Community (where Fr. Cedric lives) in Houston is also our house
of formation for the Western province of the Passionists.
In addition to the retreat centers at which we minister, some
Passionists preach parish missions. Passionists
are on staff in several parishes, and many others minister to people in
hospitals and prisons. Our seminary, which was founded in response to Vatican
II by the Passionists, Franciscans, and Servites, is the Catholic Theological
Union in Chicago (www.ctu.edu) It is the largest theological school of studies in the United
States. There are Passionists on staff at CTU to teach and minister.
